Oil paiting. A woman with octopus tentacle hair in a purple dress combs herself with a seashell before a mirror, while a toad watches from the vanity table among pots of cosmetics and hair brushes. They are surrounded by greenery. In the distance, billowing clouds and an agricultural landscape.

The guardian

Last summer, I was in Mondavio, in the Marches region of Italy, with some friends.
This black and white cat came apparently out of nowhere – we then found out a door from which he seemed to come and go – and graced a friend’s motorbike, as cats are wont to do, with their paw marks by sleeping on it some time through the night.
I like to think this small beast was a guardian of sorts.

A black and white cat with yellow eyes peeks out from behind a slightly open wooden door, held ajar by a log.
So when I had to choose a subject for my impromptu painting session during the painting contest in Fighille, in October, I decided to portray them as a bit of a mystical figure.
